60 Brand NEw May 2021 YA Books to Add to Your Shelves This Month

Historically speaking (or, at least as long as I’ve been around and paying attention to the world of books), May has always been a big book release month for YA, with tons and tons of amazing new books coming out during the month. 2021 is no exception to that rule, and we are lucky to be getting DOZENS of super awesome YA books in a variety of genres. I was going to create a list of maybe 10, or 20, or 25, highly anticipated May 2021 YA books, but as I looked through all the books out in May, there were just SO MANY GOOD ONES that I couldn’t choose. So if you, like me, can’t resist the siren call of newly published books, no matter how many unread titles you have on your shelves, you’ll definitely want to keep reading-because below you’ll find SIXTY books out in May, all of which are incredible in their own ways.

(A few disclaimers: first, this is not an exhaustive list of every YA book coming out in May 2021, so please don’t yell at me if your most anticipated release isn’t here! Second, book titles link to Bookshop, and if you choose to click on those links and then purchase the book, I will earn a small commission [at no extra cost to you, of course!]).

May 4 Releases

I think this might be my favorite of all the May release days-there are so many amazing books coming out on May 4! I’m particularly excited about Luck of the Titanic, Take Me Home Tonight, and Realm Breaker, but this is a particularly awesome start to a parade of amazing May 2021 YA books!

10 TRUTHS AND A DARE BY ASHLEY ELSTON

May 11 Releases

This week there isn’t quite as overwhelming a number of new books, but still some excellent ones to choose from! I’ve already read and LOVED From Little Tokyo, With Love, and wholeheartedly recommend it. I’m also super excited to read Where the Rhythm Takes You, since Persuasion is my favorite Jane Austen novel. No matter what you choose, you can’t go wrong with one of the May 2021 YA books out on May 11.
